Cleveland RTX-3 Wedge
With the release of the new RTX-3 wedges, Cleveland Golf says it has created tools to help players get more control and spin around the greens.
“We are really excited about these wedges,” said Patrick Ripp, a senior research engineer at Cleveland Golf. “The three key design technologies are there to help someone hit the ball closer to hole.”
The first of those technologies is an updated hosel. Each RTX-3 hosel is shorter than typical and has a microcavity inside it. This reduces weight (about 9 grams) from an area of the club that typically does not impact performance, and allowed engineers to redistribute weight to a location that matters.
Much of that weight was shifted to the center of the hitting area to create Feel Balancing Technology. It helps shift the center of gravity closer to the center of the hitting area to decrease vibrations and increase stability at impact.
